Helpful Information
How Propello Works
By focusing on inquiry-based learning, we encourage students to question and explore the world around them.
Here is how students learn with Propello:
They ask questions about natural phenomena. Another way to think of this is that they are solving a science mystery.
For example, students may ask about why earthquakes happen, why the seasons change, or when the next full moon may be. Using those questions, students then collaborate with classmates under the guidance of their teacher to find the answers. Using the Propello curriculum as the foundation, students plan and conduct investigations, collect and analyze data, and use their findings to design solutions to real-world challenges.
Through Propello's inquiry-based, active learning platform, students not only learn science, but develop, practice and apply knowledge that will serve them throughout life: collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Supporting Student Success
We know that for some students, science is a subject that may be a struggle. As former students and lifelong learners ourselves, we've been there: that moment in time when we find ourselves struggling to understand a concept, a reading passage, or even sometimes the language itself. It happens to many of us, and it happens for many of our students.
That's why Propello is tailored to students' needs and preferences. From leveled reading options, in-platform translation support, and text-to-speech features through the immersive reader option, our platform is designed to ensure every learner has what's needed to succeed.

How Families Can Help at Home
Parents, guardians, and caregivers play a crucial role in their children's education. Best of all, there are easy ways you can help continue your child's science learning at home.
Because science is all around us, families have a wealth of opportunities to practice science skills at home to reinforce what students are learning at school. Here are some easy ways to get started:
Identifying science in everyday life. When cooking together, families can discuss the science of baking, or explain how heat changes the texture of foods. Going outside is the perfect opportunity to have conversations about photosynthesis, plant growth, or the water cycle. Another idea is to keep track of the phases of the moon as a family project. The ideas are endless!
By making the natural world relevant and engaging, families can help their children see how science impacts their lives in many different ways.
Ask about the specifics they learned or did in class. Ask your child to show you what they are working on in science. Have a conversation about what they read or talked about. Did they do a lab activity? A group project? Are they building or investigating something? What kinds of questions were asked during class?
With Propello, students will be doing all of these activities (and more!), so feel free to ask specifically about them. If you child was excited about what they did, they'll talk about it!
Communicate With Your Child's Science Teacher. One of the best ways to know how to support your child's learning at home is to reach out to their teachers. Your child's teacher can work with you to find easy-to-use resources that reinforce science learning at home. By working together, you can ensure that your child has everything needed to succeed in science.
